Remodel and new build plumbing in Smyrna

A lot of the houses in Smyrna are old enough that their owners are updating them rather than moving. Bathrooms get gutted, kitchens opened up, a garage becomes a room. All of that involves plumbing, and the plumbing has to line up with the framing, the tile schedule and the inspections.

We handle the plumbing side of remodels and new builds around Smyrna, so your project keeps moving.

Before demolition

The best thing you can do before any wall comes down is decide where the fixtures will go. Moving a toilet a few feet usually means moving its drain, and that can mean opening a floor. A sink on an exterior wall may need extra attention for winter. A shower valve at the wrong height cannot be changed after tile.

We will walk the space with you and flag any plumbing decisions that have to happen before the demo.

Sequence we follow

  1. Plan

Fixture locations, drain routes and supply sizing are decided before anything is cut.

  2. Rough-in

Lines are run and tested while walls are open. Inspectors look at this stage.

  3. Close-in

Walls, floors and tile go up. We stay out of the way of the other trades.

  4. Finish

Fixtures are set, the water is turned on, and everything is tested.

Garage conversions

More Smyrna families are turning a garage into a bedroom, an office or a rental suite. A garage slab sits lower than the house slab in many homes, and there is no drain in the floor where a bathroom would go. Adding one usually means cutting a trench in the concrete for a drain line and tying it into the house sewer. That is not complicated when it is planned, but it should be decided before the walls go up.

Smyrna projects we take on

  • Master bath rebuilds with a walk-in shower
  • Hall bathroom updates in 1990s homes
  • Kitchen islands with a prep sink
  • Laundry rooms moved from a closet to a larger room

More remodel questions

Do I need a plumber before I order tile?

Ideally yes. The shower valve and drain position decide how the tile will be laid.

Do you pull permits?

It depends on the job and who is the contractor of record. We sort that out when we scope the work.

Typical remodels we plumb

  • Full bathroom remodels, including tubs, showers and vanities
  • Kitchen remodels that move sinks, dishwashers or add pot fillers
  • Garage conversions and room additions
  • Laundry room relocations
  • Underground drain and supply lines for new homes

Remodel questions

Can I move my toilet?

Usually yes, but it depends on the floor framing and where the drain runs. We will check before you finalize the layout.

Do you coordinate with my contractor?

Yes. We work with general contractors and homeowners who manage their own jobs.

An island sink and a dishwasher

Adding a sink to a kitchen island sounds simple and has one big complication. A sink needs a drain and a vent, and an island sits in the middle of the room with no wall behind it. In a house on a slab, the drain has to run under the floor, and the vent has to loop up inside the island and connect to something that can breathe. Both have to be planned before the cabinets and the countertop go in.

A dishwasher in a new location needs a water supply, a drain and a place to power it. The drain connects through an air gap or a high loop so dirty water cannot flow back into the machine. We cover that in the layout phase, because it affects where the cabinet goes.
